Yes, you read the event title right! if you want, today you WILL FLY. You WILL TAKE CONTROLS OF THE AIRPLANE. Today, take this rare opportunity to take a one time airplane flying lesson where you will have hands on learning experiences as you control the plane in the air.

Join TTD and expert instructors as we offer you an introductory class to learn the basics of airplane flying. Each attendee will get 30 minutes in a plane (hour long lessons may be arranged on request to events@thingstodoDC.com for additional; price).

After a mandatory safety lesson, each person will learn the procedures for checking in the plane; communication with the tower; reviewing all necessary instruments; take off procedures, and - of course - how to fly, steer and control your plane. Before you know it, your taking control of the airplane and flying.

After the class, you can learn options about continuing on for advanced further lessons to receive certification as a pilot!

Classes are offered in 45 minute shifts. Only one person flies per helicopter (with a private instructor).

ABOUT THE PLANE: The new Diamond DA40 XLS is four seat airplane designed for training and rides. It is a state-of-the art aircraft. Contains a new Garmin G1000 glass cockpit.

NOTE: If you are nervous, you do not have to take control of the plane. This is purely optional. If you just want an informative lesson where the pilot controls everything, that is fine as well. You may make this decision at the last minute.

NOTE: The class is actually approximately 30 minutes per person. So, a few days before the event you will be emailed your particular time slot. If you need to request a specific time, we can try to accommodate you. However, time slots are given out on a first come first serve basis (meaing whomever signed up first gets first priority.)
